Faced with an incredibly competitive A-league and plagued by a plethora of illness and injury, the Westmont girls soccer team has been off to a rocky start. The girls currently hold a record of zero wins, six losses, and two ties as of February first. With difficult losses against top-ranked teams such as Leigh and Leland, the girls have found some success with their more recent games with 0-0 ties against Sobrato and Willow Glen. Despite the difficulties the girls have faced this season, senior Kayla Kim proclaims, “although the season has been a little rough, I’m so glad that I have such an amazing and hardworking group of girls to play soccer with and finish out my final season.” The team is looking forward to the second half of their season and is preparing for their rematches against teams like Branham and Pioneer. Coaches Scott Hughes and Kylie Love continue to cultivate a positive environment for the girls to train in.The team remains optimistic for their rematches despite the difficult start to the season.
