With the holidays coming up, everyone is dying to know the highly prevalent question, “Which holiday provides the best food: Thanksgiving or Christmas?”
Thanksgiving—the one day I eat my grandmother’s signature stuffing. In all honesty, my grandmother’s cooking will always have my heart, but Thanksgiving is different. My grandmother not only cooks the turkey by herself, but she makes stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potato mash, and mushroom gravy. With the home-cooked meal, down to the variety of foods, Thanksgiving receives a solid 9/10. Unfortunately, the lack of dark meat in the turkey brings my review down by one; however, still a strong score!
With a mixed household, my family celebrates Christmas on two separate occasions, meaning I indulge in two very different cuisines. On Christmas eve, I celebrate the holiday with half of my family, the wonderful Mexican household. On the special evening, I luxuriate with traditional Mexican food, one of which steals the cake: tamales. Tamales are one of the best creations of man, specifically the sweet tamales with raisins.
Moving forward, on Christmas day with my Italian family, the cuisine changes every year! One year my family had delicious pasta made specially by my grandmother, another year we had the savory ribs from Lunardis.
However, only one cuisine can reign supreme, so with a final rating of 7/10 for Christmas foods, Thanksgiving wins! While Christmas provides tasty food, Thanksgiving remains on of my favorite days of the year to experience the best food in the entire universe.
