What makes Westmont great?
The staff here is amazing. They are supportive, passionate, and friendly. I’ve made many life-long friendships here.
What do you enjoy about teaching?
I really like getting to know the students and watching them grow into young adults.
Describe the perfect meal.
BBQ Ribs, loaded baked potato, and a salad. Makes me hungry just thinking about it!
Who are your favorite artists?
Dave Matthews, Pearl Jam, and reggae bands like Rebelution and Stick Figure
What is your favorite unit/concept/standard that you teach and why?
Imperialism. The stories from this time are so outrageous and sad. We can all learn a lot from this period of history.
Do you like running, biking, or swimming more?
I’m a natural-born swimmer, so I’ll always choose that, but recently I’ve been getting more and more into biking (both road biking and on the Peloton).
Did you always want to be a teacher?
Since about 6th grade. I actually was planning on becoming an elementary school teacher, but I decided to go the high school route after taking History courses in college.
What was your favorite subject in school?
English. I had some amazing and inspiring teachers in high school. But I also loved the cooking classes that I took as electives. They inspired my love of cooking for sure!
Favorite place to visit on vacation?
Paris is my favorite city to visit by far, but if I’m going more local, I like to visit my old stomping grounds of San Luis Obispo
