Volleyball Preview

By Kendyl Brower

13 Westmont athletes are ready to pass, set, and hit their way to gold this season. With 9 returning varsity players, the Westmont Girls Volleyball team is expected to be successful. Though last season was not ideal –the girls practicing on the grass with outdoor nets for a couple months– the players are ready to make a comeback this upcoming season. Captains Kendyl Brower and Sydney Fan, both playing for varsity since sophomore year, are ready for their senior season: “We have been playing volleyball together since 5th grade, it’s bittersweet to have our final season together, we have been waiting for it for so long.” Both Kendyl and Sydney had a taste of victory in 2019, when the team won the league title. Now, they aim to get one more year on the wall before they graduate.

This goal seems plausible: Matt Siamu, the Volleyball coach since 2018, believes the team has a clear shot at victory this season. Furthermore, with the strong defensive lineup and a handful of aggressive hitters, anything is possible.
