Hawaii Pacific University, a private university, is located in Honolulu, Hawaii. This college offers immense opportunities to the students, as it displays the most diverse student population, depicting around 65 different countries. In the early 1960s two small liberal arts colleges who wanted to add more private education in Hawaii. Then in 2014, the Oceanic Institute recognized the university and brought additional multidisciplinary research opportunities to HPU faculty and students. HPU offers a traditional college experience at the Hawaii Loa Campus. The university has a lot to offer with campus activities, housing and residence, and areas of study. Many of the campus activities are student led and include carnivals, fundraising, and parties that all help bring up money for the university. Along with campus led activities, HPU offers clubs and outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and more. The campus recreation recognizes and encourages students to take advantage of these offers and all the opportunities available that the beautiful campus and island offer. The housing at HPU is flexible and allows students to live on and off campus. The on campus housing includes waterfront lofts and taller buildings situated on 135 acres of lush, tropical landscape at the foot of the majestic Ko’olau mountain range in Kaneohe. HPU provides many undergraduate programs and classes of all variations: Musical Arts, Theatre, Visual and Studio Arts, Biology, Nursing, Environmental Science, and even Fisheries Science. The university also provides graduate programs, doctorate, online, and associate degrees.
