Which Class Will Level Up?

By Lindsay Der

Watch out, Westmont! Battle of the Classes is right around the corner. That’s right, Homecoming is postponed until the spring semester and Battle of the Classes has been moved to the week of October 26th through the 30th. Activities director Laura Saldana states, “After much discussion, ASB moved homecoming to the spring semester so that they could keep it tied to the football season. They also wanted to maintain as many of the traditions surrounding homecoming as possible like the dance and powerpuff that just aren’t possible in a virtual setting.” To achieve the most eventful spring semester in Westmont history, ASB has tirelessly labored to create socially distanced events and activities.  The theme of the week? Video games. Junior Sophia Christensen, the head of the BOTC planning committee, says that her and her team “have been working hard to come up with a fun and unforgettable week” and they “are all really excited to see the outcome.” The committee devised exciting dress-up days to participate in throughout the week. Additionally, ASB has created a plethora of online activities, available to the students everyday during lunch. On Wednesday, you have the chance to attend Westmont’s first ever “reverse parade,” from 3 to 5. Students and teachers can drive through an interactive course in the school parking lot, which displays the class decorations and banners we would usually see at the rally. Everyday after school, ASB will host video game competitions between the classes. The competition carries over to November 6th with the Warriors vs. Panthers: Ultimate Battle; the winning groups from the previous week’s games playing against teams from our rival school, Prospect. At the end of the night, as a special treat, Mr. Miller has volunteered to play a game of Madden against Prospect’s principal, so be sure to tune in!
