Tips for High School Success

By Anna Hanuska

  1. Don’t beat yourself up for procrastinating. Everyone procrastinates, just try to improve your study habits by writing your assignments in a planner or breaking them up into more manageable chunks.
  2. Quizlet is your best friend. You can make your own quizlets of vocabulary words you need to learn, and there are lots of existing ones for certain teachers’ vocab sets.
  3. Tab your books. Use sticky notes to label any allusions, extreme tone changes, important events, or dramatic statements. Having color-coded tabs allows you to find evidence for essays or in-class discussions more easily.
  4. Get as much sleep as you can. A few late assignments are easier to recover from than having to piece together the lectures you’ll miss when you zone out from exhaustion.
